BOCIO

installation, silk-screen print, restroom sized

June 2014

Bocio : (etym.) Evil corpse. Ritual and voodoo sculpture whose role is to protect. Ensures the death of the enemy. Common in the Fon’s culture (Benin).

This project is one of my craziest ! First, I made lino cuts of 8 characters inspired by these African sculptures named Bocio, then I silk-screen printed them on paper, white PRC sticker paper, transparent PVC sticker paper, vinyl flooring and toilet paper, and then I redecorated La Centrale's restroom with all of these elements. La Centrale was an alternative club in Geneva. Unfortunately, it closed in June 2015.
